Lexus ES is a series of mid-size luxury cars manufactured by the Japanese automaker Lexus since 1989. The ES is positioned between the entry-level luxury IS and the flagship LS in the Lexus lineup. The ES has been rated as the most dependable car in the Entry Premium Car segment by JD Power and Associates for 10 out of the last 15 years.
The first generation of the ES, the ES 250, was based on the Toyota Camry platform. The second generation, introduced in 1992, was based on the Toyota Windom platform and featured a more upscale and luxurious interior. The third generation, introduced in 1997, was based on the Toyota Avalon platform and featured a more sporty and dynamic design.
The fourth generation, introduced in 2001, was based on the Toyota Camry platform and featured a more rounded and aerodynamic design. The fifth generation, introduced in 2006, was based on the Toyota Camry platform and featured a more modern and sleek design. The sixth generation, introduced in 2012, featured a completely redesigned exterior and interior and was based on the Toyota Avalon platform.
The seventh generation of the ES, introduced in 2018, was the first model in the lineup to feature the new Lexus global architecture platform and was heavily influenced by the Lexus LS flagship sedan. The latest generation boasts a more dynamic, elegant and sculptured look, along with enhanced safety and driver assistance features.
